Jubilee Journal: Week 36 (5/25/2016) EVERYWHERE

Written on May 25, 2016.

Sundown brings day thirty-three of the Counting of the Omer and will leave in its dusky wake, sixteen more summons to surrendered memories before the shine of Shavout. I don’t know exactly why that crossing cornered me so as dawn crept across my room.

Maybe it was thirty-three, my Jesus number. Whenever I see that number flit and float, I just feel like there is something Jesus wants me to ask Him.

Call to me and I will tell you great and unsearchable things. Jeremiah 33:3

I love great and unsearchable. For me, it always means a mighty exploit is ahead. With Him.

Maybe it was the sixteen or ‘ayin’, The eyes to see. The understanding that leads to obedience. The watching and knowing of a people. Watching with the One they know.

Most likely it was the blend of them that landed upon my heart as pursuing wind raced through trees and thunder pealed through lighting dawn. The why quickly gave way to the wonder as a moment behind rendered the met of now.

In a car, on a road, in a town I’d never been, a man incredulously said, “You can’t possible see Jesus in everything.” On that day, I wasn’t as good at checking my tongue at my hearts door, and so I boldly blurted, “You can’t possibly not.”

A thought trail tempted me down it and I remembered summer days of choruses sung with the choir of creation for hours upon hours. And an occasional shout from inside four walls, trying to draw me away from my task and treasure. For who could I possibly be singing to or about for that long and loud?

Jesus.

Fast forward, behind time, my love beckoned me to revolve those minutes of consequence to moments of significance. From him emerged a melody that caused expression to erupt from me. The outcome and overcome was this anthem, this ballad from two hearts booming and busting:

The mountaintop is His throne of grace
The towering trees are His tabernacle
The endless sky His cathedral
The riverbank His house of praise
The rocks, the leaves
The wind, the breeze
Everywhere I look, I see the King

Lord of Lords and Prince of Peace
Risen One, Emmanuel
God with us, every knee shall bow
Jesus Christ, KING

When the great offense is washed away by grace
When the impossible dream gets its chance to succeed
It’s the giant who is humbled
The man who cries as one redeemed
A mother’s gaze, a babies face
Everywhere I look, I see the King

Lord of Lords and Prince of Peace
Risen One, Emmanuel
God with us, every tongue confess
Jesus Christ, KING

All creation, all life, all things,
All hail, the KING

Jesus. Everywhere.

Everywhere means here. It means there. Everywhere means “rested”. If He is rested in my everywhere, if I can see Him in the every that surrounds me, then He can increase in the world beyond me. He can break through, burst out, overflow and distribute, all Hebrew meanings of everywhere. The spread begins with how far I will allow Him go. How present I let and long Him to be in my every day, everywhere.

JOURNAL JUBILEE:
There is a tune inside you. Maybe you don’t have notes and chords, but I know you have words. Words to express the everywhere you see Him in. Write your everywhere song for Him. And maybe, beneath a tree or by a broke you could sing it. Really loud!!
