Each Other’s Stories

(Steeped from Morning Tea Podcast June 16, 2026)

Life can feel like a lot to balance, a lot to celebrate, a lot to grieve, a lot to do, and a lot to see. There’s always more, but not alllll of it is daily bread. In this week’s podcast there are about 47 different aspects I’d like to write about, but the two that feel like daily bread are about ‘honoring each other’s stories,’ and remembering that ‘this isn’t ordinary.’

As I was listening to the podcast originally, my friend sent me pictures of her two newborn nephews. When I received the announcement, I felt a space open up in the unseen. I knew this space was made for us to celebrate together. I paused the podcast and praised God, I let myself be moved by this big and extraordinary news, these two brand new lives have been birthed earth-side and my heart was pierced by how it changed my friend’s life, their parent’s lives, and by imagining who God would be to them through their every days. It was a short but full celebration, marked by a few prayers and a few happy and hopeful words responding to my friend.

After I responded, I returned to the podcast and shortly after hitting play, Ma said,

“One of the ways the Lord honors us is we honor each other, we honor each other’s stories, we, we give each other space to share those..” [Ma 1:13:39]

I realized that Pappa was highlighting this concept to me with this real-time, real-life experience. It felt so easy to honor this part of my friend’s story because it was such good news and I felt Pappa leading me in it, revealing the space He had created for us to occupy together. I felt Him moving me and impressing on my heart to share this moment with her, to join in her excitement and her celebration.

Sometimes it doesn’t feel so easy to honor each other’s stories. Sometimes it’s not “good” news we’re invited to create space for, and even when it is, there are times when our own stories can feel like more than we can handle being a part of in the day. But this is where Pappa is recalibrating me (recalibrating us, if I may be so bold) to daily bread.

When we are dwelling in the home He created for us within the moment at hand, we are able to occupy the fields He opens for us. Other ways to say this are “the space He creates for us” or “the place where heaven meets earth.”

Ma also shared about “bara,” meaning to fatten and fill, saying that we were created for covenant with time, not the chaos of time. [Ma 37:10]

We get to make space for God in our days, and doing that will help us to aweccupy the space that He has made for us in them, and we get to help others do this too. In that example I gave with my friend, something Pappa showed me was that my choice to enter this space with her of heralding these precious arrivals helped her to enter more fully in occupying this part of her story too.

Together we fattened and filled the moment at hand, we entered the covenant of that moment, and we honored God and God’s story that was being told. Because that’s what happens when my story isn’t ‘more important than yours right now,’ we stop being overwhelmed by trying to balance our own stories, and we start being overwhelmed by how good God’s story is.

We are calibrated to daily bread of what we are to occupy that day, daily bread of relationship, daily bread of His story, the provision, the energy, the effort, all of it becomes proportional, and the only thing that is blown up is our awe of God in all of it.

Ma also shared in the beginning of her portion of the podcast how they have begun to take a moment before they go about their day to recognize that what they’re going to isn’t just another errand run, or another weekly meeting, but this is a new now to recognize and partner with our God in.

“Just before we go do anything, we’re like, wait a minute, It’s so easy to act like ‘I’m going to something ordinary,’ but I’m likely going into something extraordinary.” [Ma 29:54]

I am so grateful for this example of a really tangible way to apply these recent teachings of aweccupying and honoring. To pause and acknowledge that this moment or this event is not common or ordinary, this is a space where heaven wants to meet earth, there is something new to make space for or to take hold of in this too, even here. It has been an effective tool in helping me to be present with Elohim at a deeper level, and to partner with the miraculous in the spaces the enemy tried to sell me as mundane.
