Promised
The story that seems inevitable is not what’s promised.
When the Israelite’s stood at the Red Sea with their enemy closing in on them, the “inevitable” story is not what happened, God’s story did.
This happens at every scale. God can split seas, break chains, restore relationships, or keep you from being stung by a wasp.
And conversely, safety and easy journeys aren’t always promised either.
What is promised is that He will be with us. God will be available as our Source and our Comfort as we surrender to His story being told. But it’s His story we get to give way for the unfolding of, not the ours and not the enemy’s.
I recently heard a writer/producer talking about her time being a staff writer on someone else’s TV show (rather than on her own show), and she said something big that she learned in that position was that “it’s not her story to fix.”
That really struck a chord with me. Yes, our God hears us, and we partner with Him in The Story, but it’s not our story to fix. It’s ours to surrender to, to partner with, and to offer ourselves fully to.
In His story, He may have us fixing things, as Blood carriers and royal priests, we terraform.
But there may be times we find ourselves in situations we wouldn’t have chosen or that are uncomfortable. Our immediate action should not be, God change this, or God fix this. It should be something like, What story are You telling here? How can I partner and participate with Your story unfolding here? What do You want me to see here? How can I know You more? What’s the fat, the oil, the riches You have for us here?
These are the messages I feel Him impressing in me today:
1. What seems inevitable is not what’s promised.
2. It’s not my story to fix; it’s His story that I get to surrender to and trust Him in.
Understanding these messages removes space for assumptions. If I find myself facing something that seems impassable with the enemy closing in, I know not to assume the worst or try to change the story to the outcome I want. I must turn to Author and ask, what’s next?

Invite Yahweh to show you where you’re invited to surrender Your control of the story being told. Where does He want you to stop trying to change the direction of the current and instead surrender and let Him carry you on it?
Invite El Shaddai to reveal to you where you may be working towards assumed routes or outcomes and offer yourself to the daily bread of recalibration.
